In June 2020, Bristol City Centre BID began funding a full-time PCSO with Avon and Somerset Police Neighbourhood Team. This additional role covers a mixture of daytime and evening hours and is in place to respond to reports and concerns raised by levy payers. A recognisable, uniformed figure patrolling the BID area, our Officer increases the safety presence on the streets and helps address a range of crime and anti-social behaviour issues affecting businesses. This officer can also call on the wider local Neighbourhood Policing Team and other specialist resources (Roads Policing, Mounted officers etc) to tackle specific priority issues when they arise.
Our fortnightly newsletter, written in collaboration with the police, is circulated among our members to provide regular reports on city centre crime and police activity.
